Prodigy is an educational MMORPG in which students grades 1-8 utilize solving math problems to battle monsters in a fantasy world. The game includes common MMO elements such as PvP, dungeons, and questlines.
I worked full-time as a Game Designer at Prodigy Education for nearly three years. I worked on a variety of features, including the release of the Academy, the Archives, the Earth Tower, Summerfest, and Crystal Caverns, to name a few.
As a Game Designer, I worked with almost all departments in our game team. This includes artists, developers/programmers, QA analysts, product managers, etc. I worked from the very beginning concept of a feature and follow it all the way up to release. It was my responsibility to assure the design not only met the criteria needed from business and product managers but also make sure the design fits within scope limitations. After a GDD is initially completed, it was my job to follow up with artists, developers, and QA throughout production to make sure the design is being adhered to, and change the GDD as necessary to reflect any changes made along the way. With Prodigy being a constantly updating live game, it's incredibly important to keep up-to-date documentation and have extensive knowledge of our game.
